connected to another port, choose that port.

Checking this box does NOT quiet your
modem during connection. Rather, a check here serves to disable
PAP messaging. You do NOT want to put a check here. If
this box is checked, remove the check.

If you wish to configure this control
panel so that you can connect to different Internet
Service Providers, you will have to choose
"Untitled" here and reconfigure all information
in this control panel as required by that provider.

If you have a 28,800 or 33,600 modem,

If you have a 28,800 or 33,600 modem,
set the flow control to: CTS & RTS (DTR).

closest to your location. If special suffixes or prefixes
need to be added for you to reach an outside line, put

If this INIT string does not for your
modem, you may want to call your modem manufacturer for
one that does.
Some internal modems (especially those
in the PERFORMA series) do NOT require INIT strings. If
you are having problems with an internal modem, try
deleting the INIT string completely.

Your USERNAME is also known as your
LOGIN name. Your USERNAME/LOGIN name is the first part of
your eMail address. If your eMail address is:

Then, your USERNAME/LOGIN name is: bob123
Do NOT type it as: BOB123 or Bob123
(23) Enter your PASSWORD in the
password field. If your password is:
GcDkMrYb
Then, type it exactly as: GcDkMrYb
Do NOT type it as: gcgkmryb or GCDKMRTB
Your password will
appear on screen as

This is a security option that prevents people from
seeing the letters that are there. If you think you made
a mistake typing your password, erase the
and retype.
(24) Press the OK button.

(25) Press the LCP Options button.
(26) Press the Default Settings button
in the lower left hand corner.
(27) Looking from the top of this screen going
down, the third word says Authentication. To the right of
Authentication, you see:
Want [ ] Will [ ] Want [ ] Will [ x ]
(28) Press the first "Want" (under
Local) .
Nothing is going to happen. Do not press it again.
(29) Press the OK button.

MacPPP.
