UPDATE: As of May 22, 2000, IAI customers can no longer have 'alaska.net' as their POP (incoming mail) server. Make sure your POP server is set to pop.alaska.net to avoid an interruption in service.
IMPORTANT: If you change your mail configuration, your e-mail program will require you to enter your Internet Alaska password. If you do not know your password call Technical Support at (907) 565-2200 or (888) 690-1930

Secondary E-mail Accounts
After signing up for a second account, here are easy-to-use instructions on how to set it up using Eudora Light, a free e-mail program available at Eudora.com.
Composing Mail Offline:
Internet Alaska has a standard 10 minute inactivity timeout for idle sessions. What this means is that you may be disconnected while composing email. The best solution is to compose your email offline. The more email you go through every day, the more practical this method becomes.
The steps you would take to retrieve, read and send your mail would be as follows:
- Connect to Internet Alaska
- Retrieve your email with Netscape, Eudora, or the client of your choice.
- Disconnect from Internet Alaska
- Read and reply to all your email, deferring delivery. Usually this means the mail is placed in an 'out' box, where it is queued for delivery at a later time.
- Reconnect to Internet Alaska
- Send your email
Offline composition with Netscape:
At the Message Composition window (where you type your message), open the Options menu. You have a choice between Immediate and Deferred delivery. Select Deferred. From now on (until you change it) your mail will be deferred.
- To send your mail (or queue your mail to be sent), type up the message as normal and then click on the Send button. This places your outgoing email in your Outbox folder.
- To upload your outgoing mail to our server, simply redial and reconnect, and then (in Netscape) go to the File menu and pull down to Send Messages in outbox
Offline composition with Eudora:
(with Eudora 1.52 and before) go to the Special menu, and selectSettings (with Eudora 1.54 and after) go to the Tools menu, and select Options
- Click on the Sending Mail icon in the left-hand window.
- In the right-hand window, uncheck immediate send. Now all your outgoing mail will be deferred.
- Hit OK. Now, type up and send your messages as normal. They will be placed in your Out mailbox with a deferred flag.
- To upload these email messages to our mail server (and pack them off on their merry way) redial and reconnect to Internet Alaska, and (in Eudora) go to the File menu, and select Send Queued Messages.
Secondary Email Accounts
In many cases it is desireable to have more than one email address. For example, you may want a ``business" address and a ``personal" address. Or perhaps having an email address for yourself and one for your spouse would help keep things more organized and convenient. Secondary email accounts allow you to do this without having to invest in an additional dailup account.
To create a secondary email account on pobox.alaska.net, visit the Internet Alaska account modifcation page.
- 20 Below, Full Service, and Static accounts have one free secondary account
- Additional accounts are $5 per month per account
