Internet Alaska announces executive level promotions
Internet Alaska Incorporated (IAI) announced today that President and CEO Mike Jalone has been elected as the company's Chairman of the Board effective May 8, 2000. Jalone joined Internet Alaska in July 1996, and during his tenure the company has become one of the state's largest Internet Service Providers (ISP). In his new role, Jalone will focus on long term strategic planning and development.
In a related move, IAI announced the appointment of Steve Dunlap as the company's new President effective June 1st. Dunlap joined IAI in mid-1999 during Internet Alaska's acquisition of Digitech Solutions, a computer hardware sales and networking company. Dunlap had served as the President of Digitech Solutions, and was most recently the COO for IAI.
"Mr. Jalone's involvement in the company, especially with regard to strategic planning, and the development and management of capital investors will continue," said Holly Lind, Director of Marketing and Sales, adding "…but Steve Dunlap will now take over the day to day business of operating Internet Alaska."
During his announcement, Jalone stated, "I am excited to have the opportunity to narrow my focus and concentrate on business partnerships that make long-term sense for Internet Alaska. With technology continually changing and fierce competition growing, it is critical that we as a company stay focused on the big picture. Becoming the Chair of the Board will allow me to do that."
Internet Alaska currently serves Alaskans from eleven physical locations throughout the state. The privately held corporation, with its headquarters in Anchorage, also employs 73 Alaskans.
